USA Border Ready Lanes

Introducing the Ready Lanes for Travelers with High Tech Cards

The US Customs and Border Protection is dedicated to finding new ways to get travellers safely and efficiently across the border. In 2011 they launched the opening of the ‘Ready Lanes’ for travellers holding high tech RFID-enabled cards. To find out how RFID-Enabled cards for crossing the border work go to Link.

Each adult passenger (over 16 years of age) in your vehicle must have an RFID-enabled card to use the Ready Lane. For a complete list of cards see the image below.

Cards approved for the Ready Lane:

  • US Passport Card
  • Nexus Card
  • US Permanent Resident Card
  • US EDL’s
  • Canadian EDL’s
Remember to: STOP at the beginning of the lane.While driving though the entrance to the booth HOLD THE CARD or
CARDS UP so that they can be read from the drivers site.STOP at the booth and follow the instructions of the officer.
